Project Info
With its emphasis on varying horticultural themes our brief was to create a garden to compliment the plantings experienced in the Mediterranean climate zone of the Great Glasshouse. Given the inhospitable microclimate with its relatively high annual rainfall this was indeed culturally challenging.
We took advantage of the south facing sloping ground and created a random series of informal terraced beds with aromatic plantings that are associated with the Mediterranean. These were faced with dry stone rubble walling, and accessed by a network of scree paths with outcrops of boulders.
