Project Info
This cottage garden, associated with a traditional stone longhouse, has evolved over a number of years. The principal challenge was to carve out a series of terraces from the steeply sloping hillside, one of the main objectives being to take full advantage, of the panoramic views of the 'borrowed landscape'... the picturesque Monnow Valley. Locally sourced dry stone retaining walls, as well as planted banks take up the changes of level.
Our clients, who are keen gardeners, charged us with designing a garden that was full of plants, and that used foliage as well as flower for seasonal effect. Pastel colours particularly blues, pinks purples and whites proliferate in this garden.
