Project Info
Our designs for this unique double walled garden commenced in 2001, following extensive archaeological digs and rebuilding of the walls. The archaeological work not only revealed the workings of the 19th century Peach House, but also a central pool and a cruciform of paths, which were subsequently reinstated as the main pathways in the garden. With the exception of one quadrant which was developed as a contemporary kitchen garden, the remaining three quadrants were planted out telling the story of the evolution of plants. These displays were accessed by an imaginative arrangement of contemporary paths, all surfaced in different materials.
At the centre of the garden the stone dipping pool, is framed by a circle of box pleached hornbeams, slate faced lily ponds.
